Special Update - We met our target!

This is exciting news!

I would like to give special thanks to Tom Newey for his Company's generous donation that raised our total to our intended target of £2000.

'Challenge Coins UK - Former Forces For the Forces', embraces the spirit of Veterans supporting one another and serves the Armed Forces as the 1st choice when commsioning Challenge Coins.

check out his link challengecoinsuk

I am very proud to be a part of this team, through everyones contributions we have achieved what we set out to do, raise £2000 for Walking With The Wounded.

We still have a Cake Bake and a Raffle planned, every penny will help a Wounded Veteran reintegrate into society. We should all be very proud of what we have accomplished.

As a team we will now focus on assisting 'Morson Old Boys' reach their target. and with only 3 weeks left, it is time to steel ourselves for the Cumbrian Challenge!

April Update

With £1828 Raised so far, the £2000 target is within our grasp.

Our attention turned to our team training (or lack of), this was cured by a casual stroll from Stowmarket to Ipswich in just under 6 hours, the single picture that was taken reflects the intense velocity of our pace as we visualised being anywhere near a hill. This visualisation technique will surely have prepared our minds for the Cumbrian Terrain....surely?!

The flags are now prepared on exquisite 'extendable' poles. The team were delighted to learn that the 'plastic fleur-de-lyse finials' actually turned out to be Cast Iron, making this challenge even more challenging... but they do look great!

If you are reading this and not yet donated, please do. We are SO close and rely on the genorosity of people like yourself to meet our target, every little bit counts!

Your continued support is appreciated, thank you

March Update

Things are getting exciting as we get closer to 18th May, not just because its my birthday (just saying!) but having raised £1637 between us so far, that £2k target may yet be achievable.

The Car Boot went very well and between the 2 teams we raised £300! Staff from DSU supported us by donating unwanted items for us to sell, it was touching to see people go out of their way to offer assistance, from lending transport, making signage, storing the goods, even the Army lent us some tressle tables. The whole operation soon became bigger than i would have imagined and I would like to thank all those involved.

As April approaches we need to look towards our training, it is time to prepare our kit, condition our body and steel ourselves for what lies ahead. The Peaks of Cumbria.

.....and squeeze in another sneaky CakeBake (Mainly for Stacy's Cookie Block!)...(yes really!!).

Jason continues to sell all his possessions for the cause! Top Bloke.

Thanks all, for your continued support.

February Update

Thanks to all that have supported us so far. I am pleased to announce that the team has gained momentum and we are first place on the leaderboard with regards to contributions raised, not that I am competitive...but (oh wait, actually I am competitive!)

February's event was the DSU Cake Bake which raised a total of £184.76. This was distributed around both team pages (Team Apache & Morson Old Boys). Well done all.

I would like to show particular gratitude to;

The American Legion Post 119, McCall, Idaho

Recieving support from American Veterans is humbling, and reminds us of the close friendship amoungst our serving personnel. This bond can not be broken by distance, nationality or politics and lives on when we become veterans.

Thank you.

January Update

So far our campaigning has been a success, with Jason already exceeding his personal target of £500. Good Work Jason!

The Team still need to raise £1071 to meet our target (and earn the coveted red 'woolly' hat).

Plans for 'Cake Sale', 'Car Boot', and 'quiz night at the community centre' are all in motion and will help. However, a large part of our success will still be dependant on the good will and support of anyone reading this.

If we are able to exceed £2000 on our team page, we will have raised enough to allow a wounded, armed forces veteran, to recieve treatment that will allow them to embark upon a pathway to recovery.

Thank you all, for your support so far.

I'm supporting our wounded. Are you with me?

I've joined a team taking on the Cumbrian Challenge - a big old day hauling ourselves around the Lake District alongside teams of veterans who are getting their lives back on track thanks to Walking With The Wounded.

My ask is quite simple. Please dig deep, or sign up a team to take us on.

Why? We're the lucky ones with jobs, families, homes. Most people leave the military without any issue, but for a small minority it isn't so easy.

Walking With The Wounded support the veterans who are struggling with their mental health, who are hard to reach, socially isolated, homeless, in police custody... men and women with little to look forward to but who want to get back into society and employment – which is at the heart of what we do.

Please help me and my team hit our £2k target. Every £675 can enable a veteran to access 1-2-1 private mental health therapy within an average of 4 days of referral. Imagine that.

Thank you so much in advance for your support.
